Juliette Kang

Juliette Kang 655 539 Welcome to Kingston Chamber Music Festival | Kingston Chamber Music Festival

We’re looking forward to our summer festival! Over the next few weeks, we’ll introduce each artist performing in our 36th season.

Violinist Juliette Kang will play on Tuesday, July 30th.

Described as having “warmth, tenderness, and an enigmatic beauty in her assured performance” (The Akron Beacon Journal), Kang has served as first associate concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 2005, working alongside KCMF founder and first Artistic Director David Kim, who was named concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999.

On July 30th, she and Kim will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Two Violins in C Major, Op.56, revealing the truth behind Prokofiev’s declaration that “there are still so many beautiful things to be said in C Major.” Kim and Kang will be joined by Che-Hung Chen, Priscilla Lee, Clancy Newman, and Burchard Tang for Johannes Brahms’s String Sextet No.1 in B-flat Major, Op.18, a piece that showcases the celebrated composer’s genius for blending different voices and creating rich textures.

Kang, Chen, Newman, and KCMF Artistic Director Natalie Zhu also perform and tour as the Clarosa Quartet, a group dedicated to exploring and enriching the piano quartet repertoire.
