Scholarship Award Program

The Kingston Chamber Music Festival has established a $1,000 Scholarship Award program in the Music Department at the University of Rhode Island. The scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding music major at the end of their sophomore year. The award selection will be made by the Music Department Faculty based on recognized excellence in instrumental performance and music scholarship. Preference will be given to Rhode Island residents. Public announcement of the award winner will be made to the media by the Music Department and University, and will be acknowledged by the KCMF during its summer festival.

Congratulations to our 2009 Scholarship Recipient!

ALLISON PARRAMORE

Allison Parramore is currently working on a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance (flute) at the University of Rhode Island. She is an active member of the URI Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Flute Ensemble and Woodwind Quintet on both flute and piccolo.
Allison started her music career at eight years old in the elementary school beginner band. She continued through the elementary and junior high schools, and entered the King Philip Regional High School music program under the direction of Peter Tileston (Wrentham, MA). She traveled with the symphonic and marching bands while performing in prestigious places such as the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Giants Stadium, Raven Stadium, Mechanics Hall, and Boston’s Symphony Hall.  Allison also performed a wide variety of repertoire in two senior recitals in high school.  In addition, Allison studied privately with Jacqueline Goudey of Foxboro, MA, until she entered the University of Rhode Island where she is currently studying with Susan Thomas, the principal flutist of the Rhode Island Philharmonic.  Allison spends her summers playing at the South Shore Music Festival under the direction of Frederick Harris.  For the current summer, Allison was accepted into New York University’s Woodwind Quintet program, as well as Oberlin’s Flute Institute.
